The power of words, the way they can summon an experience shared between the writer and the reader across time and space, the play of sounds and imagery with all the immediacy generated by simple marks upon a surface; these have always been important to me. While I have written all my life, it’s only been rather recently that I’ve turned to writing as the way to bring what had seemed disparate elements of my activities together. I’ve always followed callings, but this seems my strongest calling.
I’m writing about writing in a lot of what I do, but two places might give the best introduction and overview into the how and the why of my writing. Many posts in Horizons of Significance have writing as at least a partial theme. Fragments of my Father, a Memoir explores some of the history behind my convictions related to writing.
